It's that time of the year again when we pay homage to the hard-working professionals that make up the dance music community. Without them, Ibiza wouldn't be what it is today. The DJ Awards is a celebration of the electronic music scene and aims to recognize and honour DJs and individuals who have influenced electronic dance music worldwide.
In 2019, DJ Awards return to the regal destination Heart Ibiza on Monday 16 September. Presented by Graham Sahara and Jaguar, the “Plastic No More” themed awards, aim to help raise awareness within the dance music industry on how we can find sustainable solutions to eliminate the use of plastic. This year, things are looking pretty exciting as the ceremony has new initiatives, new categories, and new industry awards. There is a massive 125 DJ's nominated across 12 categories for the award.
All the usual genres, ranging from house and deep house to trance and techno, will be returning, but this year organisers have also added afro house and deep tech categories. Alongside the genre categories are four non-specific genre awards: Newcomer, Breakthrough, Electronic Live Performer and International DJ. The Industry Awards for key players in the electronic music scene will also be returning.
Despite the presence of heavyweights like Carl Cox, Armin van Burren and Dixon, since 2008, 54% of the nominees are in fact newbies to the DJ Awards. So there is everything to play for! Take a look at the full list of nominee's below.
After the winners have been revealed, the emotion from the night peaks even higher. With the chance to rub shoulders with the winners and nominees, get your dancing shoes on and head to the dancefloor as the party features an international line up.
Protagonist to one of the most talked-about residencies in this year in Ibiza at Blue Marlin, the widely acclaimed Agoria will be the first to take to the decks. He will be joined by Butch, who is one of the hardest-working artists in the industry. Constantly working in parallels – drenched by a potent mixture of juxtaposition and fluidity in both his sets and his productions, fuses the grey-area space between music of the body and mind. Fusing house and techno beat with hypnotic tunes, sound elements and inclusions of live instruments is what we have to look forward to on Monday evening.
The legendary South American DJ Hernan Cattaneo will be the last performance of the evening. Across his three-decade journey through music, the Hernan has lived his life through the music that inspires him; inspiring thousands of electronic music lovers across the globe in the process. Expect nothing but passion and a riveting stand-out set.
To sum up, the DJ Awards is a celebration of music and all of the very best achievements throughout the industry. Join us for the anticipated ceremony or/and dance with us at the party afterwards. Either way, this will be a night to remember.
