Where did those 7 weeks go? It feels like only yesterday the former Sankeys opened its doors under the new name of Octan Ibiza. Despite facing stiff competition on Sundays, the opening party back in July was a raging success and Warriors put Octan on the map for tech house lovers all over the island.
So far this season, leader of the tribe and forward-thinking Ibiza stalwart Steve Lawler placed its faith in Octan and with evident reward as hundreds of clubbers snake around the venue and rave under the red lights of the Basement each week. The cutting edge event has provided Ibiza with an affordable alternative to enormous club nights but still with that spine-tingling superclub vibe.
Steve Lawler bought out the big guns with an insane schedule of lineups for every single week of their residency. We were right to expect carnage when formidable FUSE residents were announced on the opening party bill. Seb Zito and Ben Stirling provided immense dubbed-out house and techno-inspired grooves, along with label head Enzo Siragusa, under the low-ceilings and subtle light schemes.
Week two and three welcomed the nostalgic return of Darius Syrossian along with bass-heavy bangers from the likes of Anek, Anotr, Detlef, Ejeca, Reelow and more. By week four, Warriors was moving from strength to strength in Octan as Apollonia presents Planet Claire in the Lab made its captivating debut. The trilogy introduces yet another tantalising techno realm to the innovative party venue.
Additional tastemakers to have taken care of the previous August dates include Cassy, East End Dubs, Yousef and rising star Roberto Surace.
If you're looking for a grungy underground rave then you've hit the jackpot with this winning pair; Warriors and Octan. Built-up of three intimate rooms, the amazing VOID sound systems and body sonic dance floor shake clubbers to the core of all things dark and techy.
The Warriors season will come to a close this Sunday 18 August, with Steve Lawler joined by elrow resident De La Swing. Depth, darkness and fun are always present in his sets along with a showcase of creativity and innovation on stage while establishing a unique connection with the crowd; An ideal booking for an energetic closing.
Rich NxT and Anek will also hit the decks along with an as-yet-unannounced special guest in Octan’s Basement. As the Warriors prepare for one final showdown, we expect a big name to be catapulted onto the schedule.
Regardless of a slightly later start to the season and an earlier finish, Warriors Ibiza by no means made its mark on the 2019 clubbing calendar. With just one more chance to dance with Steve Lawler and his Viva Warriors, we can't wait to see what the impelling closing party has in store. We can practically feel the rumble already.
