The legendary British band, Madness, formed in 1978 in Camden, one of the neighborhoods with more musical effervescence of London, arrived to the island to the stage of Ibiza Rocks Hotel.
On Wednesday, August 13th, the nostalgic of the Ska revival of the 70s and 80s enjoyed one of the best tributes to the classics that has been done on the island. The band that marked history in his time showed that, despite the years, they haven’t lost that energy and musical quality that made them famous. To the beat of their songs My girl, One Step Beyond or It must be love, the band played, jumped and caught with their songs a devoted audience. There wasn’t a certain profile, adolescents and adults up stuck in their 50s and 60s, shared dance like nowhere else in Ibiza, united by music.
They didn’t make an hour and a half concert, but certainly we would venture to say it was one of the most energetic and fun groups that has gone through the island this season. Proof of this was the smile on the faces of the attendees at the end of the concert. Nobody wanted to go home and the group had to play up to two more songs after left the stage.
"We are back by popular demand. We were voted the best live Ibiza in 2012 and the people have spoken; Ugly would ignore them", said the group before the concert. They didn’t disappoint, dressed in black suits and hats and even once showed that good music never dies.
The London artist also, Hollie Cook was in charge of the opening act of Madness. For those who didn’t know her, she is the daughter of a prominent figure of the music, no less than Paul Cook, bassist of the Sex Pistols. Much less punk that his father is the style of this singer of reggae spirit and Jamaican influences with a sensual and very sweet voice with which she was preparing the public for what it was coming on stage.
