Solid Grooves Epic Opening Party 2019

Sunday's on Ibiza now mean serious roadblocks as Solid Grooves has kicked off its 2019 season. 

Michael Bibi and gang prove why they are one of the most promising parties on the island. Here's why.

Yesterday marked the 5th year on Ibiza for the underground tech-house label, Solid Grooves. This year, Privilege's side section certainly maxed out its 1,200 capacity, as groovers assembled in their hundreds for the opening night at Privilege's Vista Club.

Arriving on the scene just before 1AM, it appears clubbers were just as eager as us to arrive early doors. We approached one of the longest queues of the season so far, and certainly the loudest. Solid Grooves is what it says on the tin, a party revolved around the dance and throwing your very best shapes to an irresistible tech-house soundtrack.

The energy bubbled along the queue from the tips of a person’s raving shoes to the anticipating look on one’s face, everyone was ready to step onto the dancefloor. 

It was a predominantly British crowd, and all of them were youthful, fervent, and budding ravers, ready to go hard all night long.

The Amsterdam based duo ANOTR was up first. Despite only being in their early twenties, they have performed at some of the biggest festivals and clubs around the world. Being around the same age as the audience, the exciting duo have a fresh and innovative sound that had everyone revelling from the off. 

It was time to find a spot and make room to dance as label affiliate Dennis Cruz took charge of the now-packed-out dancefloor with effortless control. His catchy tech rhythms and stellar dancefloor drops wooed the room. 

Solid beats and groovy basslines infused every track. Up next, co-founder PAWSA kept the rolling tech house moving with a sound complimented by an old-school vibe signature of his style. Everybody went nuts when he dropped 'On Yer Feet'. 

Later in the evening, we were treated to a special guest performance from Steve Lawler. As an unannounced guest, the Ibiza stalwart did not disappoint and went in hard as soon as he hit the decks come 4AM.

The roaring speakers of the Vista Club rumbled and Lawler had no problem filling out the sweatbox with beefy bangers.

With an exciting line up to keep us dancing until dawn, there was no slowing down when Michael Bibi took centre stage at 5.15AM.

The room was completely LIT, and we’re not just talking about the sunlight shining through the glass-encased pyramid, as a faultless selection of bass-heavy belters kept the energy sky high. 

I think everybody lost their heads when Bibi dropped his new release ‘Isolate Ctrl’ – just wow.

A birthday bash for Bibi meant that the party wasn’t over there. 

The remaining Solid Groove addicts headed to a secret villa party where the man himself continued to celebrate his birthday and spin the beats until late afternoon on Monday. 

Now THAT’S what we call a party. Happy birthday Michael Bibi – that was insane.
